Boring technology

We had ChatGPT before ChatGPT.

Ambiki launched Kiki Creates on May 20, 2022. ChatGPT launched on November 30, 2022.

We had an AI scribe before "AI scribe" had even really entered the lexicon. We demoed Tenalog to customers for the first time in January 2023 and launched it publicly in June 2023.

And on July 23, 2022, we posted a concept video of therapists generating image-based therapy materials from a prompt, back when most people didn't even know AI could generate images.

A YouTube video titled Ambiki - Session Planning Vision, posted by Kevin Dias on Jul 23, 2022. The video shows a dialog labeled Generate visual schedule image with the prompt A kid holding a soda can and a kangaroo, and six AI-generated illustrations of a boy with a kangaroo below it.

All to say, we have consistently been pretty early to AI.

Which makes this next part a little funny. The things we are most proud of at Ambiki have almost nothing to do with AI.

Our double-entry billing ledger? Old-school accounting principles, rules, and a painful amount of domain expertise.

A lot of our most important and most used features? Deterministic, rule-based software built on years of industry knowledge.

Our support team? Actual humans. No chatbots.

We use AI where it is genuinely the best tool for the job. But sometimes the best technology is boring technology.
