Fundamentals

The fundamentals are so tough, especially in a startup. It might be easier in a more mature company, where things change less often.

  • What's my role?
  • What am I responsible for today?
  • What company goal does this ladder up to?
  • What does success look like?
  • Where do my responsibilities stop and someone else's begin?
  • Is there any ambiguity in the ownership of tasks or goals?

And even if you get it right this quarter, there's a good chance it will change three or six months from now.

It might seem easy on paper or in theory, but it takes a lot of intentional work to pull off.
