Sleep talking

We just got back from a quick trip to North Carolina. Nobody enjoyed being in America more than our 4-year-old.

Every. single. time. he saw an American flag, he would yell:

"AMERICA!!!"

In the most sincere and excited voice imaginable.

He also sometimes sleeps in our bed.

This is already a questionable decision because he sleeps like a helicopter trying to land in high winds.

Arms everywhere. Legs everywhere. Random 180-degree rotations in the middle of the night.

He also talks in his sleep.

And, to date, his sleep talking has been 100% in Japanese.

Until this trip.

Jet lag had me wide awake at 2am when, from a completely unconscious child next to me, I suddenly heard:

"Whatcha doing outside?"

Apparently even his subconscious knows he's in America.

Two boys in blue life jackets fishing off a dock on a calm lake, with morning mist rising off the water.
