Smallest possible change

Default to simple. Start with the smallest possible change.

It sounds obvious, but it's the number one place I see people get stuck. We try to do too much at once.

Rewrite the whole service.
Adopt a new framework.
Refactor legacy code and add the new feature.

Big changes feel productive… right up until they slow everything down.

Progress usually comes from the smallest, least-magical step forward.

If you're stuck, shrink the scope.
Make one thing better.
Ship it.
Repeat.
