Having 2 of our 3 kids away at Grandcamp during August freed up some hobby time.
I worked on a couple of short films for a contest where the rules were that the video, music, sound, everything had to be 100% AI generated.
I'm extremely torn on AI personally. Part of me wishes we could just go back to the 90s. That was just enough technology.
But one thing AI has done is make it much easier (and much less expensive) to get ideas that were previously just stuck in my head out into the world.
I actually made two films.
The first one is for those of you who like dramas / emotional type movies.
The Last Time is an emotional sci-fi drama about a man who can sense when ordinary moments are happening for the final time, from carrying his child upstairs to riding bikes with an old friend. What seems like a gift slowly becomes a burden, raising the question: if you knew a moment was the last, would you appreciate it more or ruin it by knowing?
For the braver among you, I also made a science fiction / horror one. No gore or anything...but I should warn you that the one and only YouTube comment so far was: "What have I stumbled upon" 😂 (which I am naively going to take as a compliment)
No Such Place is a sci-fi horror short about a man who enters a Japanese village that vanished off all government maps after an earthquake and discovers that, no matter how far he walks, he can't get back out. Told through recovered MiniDV footage, it follows his attempt to understand the village, the government team that came before him, and why Kaminashi may have disappeared in the first place.
