Switching seats

One of my favorite mechanics in Cooperation Cube is a bonus card that allows you to switch seats.

This can change the Cooperative Card points as those cards are based on a player's position relative to you.

The idea came from one of my favorite things about Hearts: shooting the moon.

In Hearts, you can look like you're getting absolutely destroyed.

You're taking every terrible card.

Then, if you pull it off, everything flips and suddenly the person who looked like they were losing wins.

I love mechanics like that.

So when I designed Cooperation Cube, I wanted some version of that feeling.

Players might be feeling pretty good about their placements, then this card gets played and suddenly the entire dynamic changes.

I think games are more fun when you can never be completely sure who's actually ahead (which is another mechanic of Cooperation Cube as you don't know anyone else's score until the end).

If you want to play the physical version, you have two options:

Spend a weekend in your workshop building one yourself. Or come visit me in Tochigi.
